You’ll find the Friends’ Shop in the main entrance of the hospital and we sell everything that patients and visitors may require during their stay including a one-stop-shop for items to support their daily living needs. Items such as:
- Drinks, snacks and confectionery
- Toiletries
- Limbo’s to protect plaster casts and PIC lines when showering or bathing
- Socks/Stocking pullers
- Reaching aids
- Wheelchairs by order ….. and much more!
Ward Trolley Service
The Trolley Service is vital for those patients who can’t get to the shop, so the trolley volunteers take the shop to them! The trolleys stock confectionary, toiletries, books, crisps, snacks and stationary, in fact anything that a patient could possibly want!
Our Trolley volunteers are in direct contact with patients, and not only sell them the items they need but also spend some time to have a chat. This is always welcomed especially for those who have few or no visitors, so can be a vital link to the outside world.

Courtesy Packs
A regular and recurring commitment of the Friends is to supply courtesy toiletry packs for patients who are admitted as an emergency.
Opening hours
The hours that the shop opens is dependent upon the availability of volunteers, but our dedicated team of staff and volunteers aim to have the shop open during the following times:
- Weekdays (excluding Bank Holidays)
